Full Packing Service in DC | Payne Free Moving

Full packing with the boxes, paper, and crew furnished, the kitchen, closets, and fragiles wrapped and marked by room so the day is only the carry

Everyone pictures the carry, but the packing is where a move is actually decided. A home boxed properly loads quickly, rides clean, and unpacks into the right rooms; one crammed into trash bags and liquor-store cartons at midnight shows up chipped, scrambled, and a week behind schedule. Wrapping the furniture is our job either way, yet a full pack means we supply the boxes, the paper, the tape, and the crew, and we box out your kitchen, your closets, your art, and your glassware so the day itself is nothing but lifting. Marcus and the crew pack a Capitol Hill rowhouse, a Bethesda colonial, or a Navy Yard condo to one standard, sized to the home and the calendar.

How a full pack runs

Real packing has nothing in common with tossing blankets over a couch. The crew shows up with graduated cartons, dish packs split by cell dividers, wardrobe boxes that keep the closet on its hangers, and unprinted paper plus bubble for anything that can break. Plates stand on edge, glasses are wrapped one by one, lamps and mirrors get cartons of their own, and the TVs ride in proper boxes rather than under an arm. Each carton is marked by room so it lands where it belongs, and a numbered inventory keeps the tally honest. The cost is a flat figure scaled to the home, folded into the move quote, and you can hand off the whole house or only the rooms you would rather skip, the kitchen and the china cabinet being the two most people give up.

DC housing is exactly why the pack matters as much as the haul. A rowhouse with a pinched stoop and a long drag to the truck is no place for an overstuffed carton that splits halfway out the door, and a tower with one reserved freight window rewards a load that is boxed tight and ready to roll the instant the truck pulls up. We pack so the load is dense, square, and quick to carry, which trims the hourly clock and protects the freight window. Hand us a full four-bedroom to box before a cross-country haul, or just the kitchen of a studio, and every carton is built to ride.

What Washington Movers Say

Capitol Hill · Yelp
★★★★

“Our Capitol Hill rowhouse has zero driveway and a stoop that fights you the whole way down. Reggie's crew posted the No-Parking sign two days ahead so the truck actually had the curb, and they hand-walked the couch through the front door without a scuff. Knocked a star only because they showed up about 40 minutes past the window, but they called ahead and made up the time. Fair flat price, no games.”

“Moved a 2-bed condo into a Navy Yard high-rise and was dreading the COI and freight elevator nonsense. Yolanda had the certificate to the building manager before I even asked, and the crew reserved the elevator pads so we weren't fighting other residents. Honestly the smoothest move I've done in this city.”

“Federal relocation, and the timeline was a mess on my end, not theirs. Payne Free worked around two date changes without charging me extra and the written quote held exactly. Reggie's team had me out of Dupont and squared away by early afternoon.”

Service FAQ

Do you furnish the boxes, or am I buying them?

We furnish them. Graduated cartons, dish packs with dividers, wardrobe boxes, unprinted paper, bubble, and tape all arrive with the crew, sized to your home. There is nothing to source or fold ahead of time; we show up ready to box the kitchen, the closets, and the fragiles.

Can I pack a few rooms myself and leave the rest to you?

Yes, that split is common. Plenty of people box their own clothes and books and hand us the rooms they would rather not face, most often the kitchen and the china cabinet. We wrap, box, and label whichever rooms you assign, and the figure scales down to just that work.

How is packing priced?

As a flat figure scaled to the home and the rooms in play, folded into the move quote. A studio kitchen sits at the bottom, a full four-bedroom at the top. We size up the place and state the packing figure upfront, materials included, so there is no per-box tally arriving later.

Will my fragile things really make it intact?

Packed correctly, yes. Plates ride on edge, glasses are wrapped individually, lamps and mirrors take cartons of their own, and electronics go in proper boxes with bubble. A box built dense and square does not shift in transit, and shifting is what cracks fragiles. Each carton is labeled and logged, so nothing wanders off either.

Can you pack for a long-distance or a storage move?

Either one. We box to the standard a long haul requires, dense, square, labeled, so the load rides clean over distance, and those same cartons go straight into our climate-controlled storage if there is a gap before delivery. Name the destination and we quote the pack on its own, or the pack and the move as one job.
